The project

In partnership with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, Landcom is working to deliver sustainable and more affordable housing at Tallawong, in Sydney’s growing northwest.

Spanning 29 hectares, this transformative project will include around 600 homes, surrounded by vast green spaces to improve wellbeing and encourage a healthier lifestyle.

The diverse range of housing provides ‘traditional’ freestanding homes alongside other housing types, such as semi-detached homes and apartment blocks up to four storeys, providing greater housing choice. Ten percent of homes will also be reserved for Affordable Housing.

The new neighbourhood sits alongside First Ponds Creek, with planning underway for parklands, play spaces, and pedestrian and cycling paths in consultation with Blacktown City Council.

Just moments from Tallawong Station and a range of amenities at Rouse Hill Town Centre, this project will set a new standard for housing development in northwest Sydney.

Design & sustainability

The Guntawong Road project follows best-practice design principles to ensure the new neighbourhood remains cool, comfortable and liveable throughout summer, including:

  • green street verges that allow for more trees than traditional developments
  • use of higher-quality soils to encourage faster tree growth for cleaner air and more shade
  • preservation and enhancement of vegetation along First Ponds Creek
  • up to three open spaces alongside First Ponds Creek, which could include natural play spaces, multi-use courts, pedestrian and cycling paths, barbecues and picnic facilities
  • light-coloured buildings and rooftops, where appropriate
  • low-speed local streets that are pedestrian and cyclist friendly.
